1996-2007
From an early age i have loved motorcycles, my first bike was a present from my dad when i was 4, and that got the ball rolling! My dad is a keen motorcyclist and a very fast racer with various titles to his name. He was eager to share his passion of bikes, and so after a few bikes to ride around the fields on my dad bought me a Polini 4.2 mini moto at the age of 8. He taught me how to ride properly, and within a few rides a was getting my knee down and whizzing around car parks left, right and centre. From there i entered my first race, and then continued to enter rounds of the lucky devils mini moto championship learning more and more each time out however racing was never taken too serious and no great results where achieved, however this was the groundwork to learn how to become a true racer. when i was 12 i raced in the lcrrc xsport supermoto championship, and scored some good points, i earned 4th place in the championship at the end of the year however the offroad sections of the pit bike supermoto racing was where i had made up good time, and after testing a CR85, my time on the tarmac was up. at the age of 14 i got my first motocross bike, a Suzuki RM85. I competed in Steve Island enduro events with Wirral Off Road with my dad who stopped racing supermoto with NORA and bought a ktm 200. Eventually growing out of the 85 and competing on an RM125, I started to pick up real pace at the enduros, eventually beating my dad a few times (sorry dad). However Eventually the fire inside was lost, and in 2007 at the age of 15 my bike was sold and my short racing career was over. or so it seemed.
2011
In 2011 i decided that i wanted to race motorbikes again, this time, i was going to pay for it myself, and take it a bit more seriously. I bought a bog standard 2002 Aprilia Rs125 that was track ready, got my acu race licence and headed to three sisters for a test day. It didn't take long to remember how to ride! My first race weekend was a disaster, with no money to buy spare wheels or wet tyres, it absolutely lashed it down, but it didn't matter, i knew that after i got the first meeting out of the way it would all fall into place. Throughout the following season i gained momentum and every lap of every race of every meeting i got faster, gaining my first podium in the wet and finishing 6th in the pdmcc championship.
At the last race of the season i experienced the inevitable as a fellow racer lost the front underneath me, uninjured i was okay-ed to race in the afternoon however the bike was in a sorry state. My dad who was racing with me on a Honda Rs125 GP had wrapped up the single cylinder and had secured 2nd place in the 125cc championship let me ride the gp125 in the up to 500 class, in which i knocked 2.5 seconds off my laptime and thoroughly enjoyed being on a competitive bike! This lead me on to secure dads Honda Rs125 for the 2012 season, on the promise that i would pay to build the motor at the start of the year and maintain it myself.
